Show Stopper Saddle

Hey,

So there is this saddle on eBay that I’m looking at buying. The only thing is that it’s drum dyed, does that mean it will be bad quality? I only want to use it as a pleasure/stock working saddle? Also anyone else ride western with their standardbreds? Is there any shows that you can do with them in western gear?

  • kind regards, Sophie

You can show them in open (all breed) shows for sure.

Never heard of that type of saddle…link?

Drum Dyed Leather is the best way to color the leather, most companies take plain leather and spray the color on with vegetable dye or similar.

Now, that being said, I did a search and the only Show Stopper Saddle I found was an Import made in Kanpur India on Ebay, it contained a fiberglass tree. Needless to say it is a piece of JUNK…

Good Western Saddles are very expensive in Australia, I seriously doubt you will find a Good Western Saddle in OZ for less then 1,500.00 unless it is used.

I have customers from OZ and they tell me the horror stories of those 400.00 to 700.00 new western saddles they find and all of them are JUNK from India.

.

Thanks @SouthernTrailsGA,

Yeah I found out more direct from seller it was just a load of manure so I’m viewing an Aussie made older saddle this weekend sometime. That’s good you can compete in open classes as he’s a little cow in all the English rounds as he was broken to a western saddle originally. So hopefully I find some in the area!
