Any reason why I shouldn’t? My guy goes really well in the Collegiate Comfitec Bridle, but I don’t know that I want to show with the sheepskin noseband. I bought a dropped noseband that fits on the same bridle for showing mostly. We are nowhere near the upper levels, and will likely be showing training/1st level this year.
No reason why you shouldn’t. If it works for you and your horse, and it’s legal, why not? I think drops simply fell out of trend when a lot of the anatomical styles hit the market. I personally like the look of a drop noseband and wouldn’t hesitate to use one if that was what my horse preferred.
Drops are legal, the Comfitec bridle is legal. The sheepskin liner is not. If it is removable, just take the liner off the noseband for the shows. I have the ComfiTec for my mare without the sheepskin and she loves it.
Drops are the low tech anatomical noseband My boy actually goes the best in a drop, almost all other nosebands put some pressure over his molars which he doesn’t like. There is no reason not to use a drop if it works for your horse.
I show in a drop! My horse likes it best, so that’s what we go in. Go for it!
I’m pretty sure I know someone who shows national GP in a drop. I could be wrong if that’s not legal, but I know she schools her GP horse in a drop.
Could you please provide the rule where it says no sheepskin? I cannot find it. Thanks

…Except for the buckles and a small disk of sheepskin,
which may be used in the intersection of the two leather straps of a crossed noseband, the headstall and
cavesson/noseband of the bridle must be made entirely of leather or leather-like material…
I showed in a drop noseband for years and never had any issues. It is a legal piece of equipment. if it is good enough for the Klimkes, it is good enough for me!
I’m planning to this year as my mare has decided that’s her preference at the moment
I did see several at Regionals last year, so while they are not common you won’t be alone!
Thanks guys! My boy is definitely a “less is more” kind of guy, so I’m happy to have an option for showing this year!
