Showing in grey breeches?

Gray breeches, navy coat and pad white horse.

Please ignore my terrible chair seat. This photo had the best lighting to show his pad and my breeches. At this show I used my dove gray pad. I’ve used white as well. I usually get “nice turnout” on my score sheet. It’s simple, but most importantly, these breeches have lasted far longer than my white ones.

Both look great!

If the OP is anything like myself, she will find ways. Because she has skills. The dirt will find her.
Seriously. The last pair I got chocolate all over. I wasn’t even eating chocolate. It was a rogue, half-opened bar in my car.

Also, they just look stupid on my white horse. I’ll wear them on the bay, but with my grey’s darker shading, they just make him look filthy.

Light grey gersemi breeches, matching gloves, black coat, boots, helmet, white stock tie, white pad on a very black and white leopard appaloosa. Looked great, didn’t improve my scores

It does not look to me that you have a chair seat, rather as a concerned and doting horse mother, you noted that your horse had an itch and simply moved your foot forward to scratch it momentarily. That is what I think.

I have been searching for some nice fitting lihjt grey jods or breeches for a few yrs now…not that im showing much at the mo.

I was given a gorgeouse black grey and silver stock 5 or so years ago that i still havnt worn to a show with my black coat as it just looks wierd with cream/beige pants.

I show both FEI and USEF tests in grey breeches and navy coats. Here’s a picture of my mare and I last fall (https://www.dropbox.com/s/dy146dabxy2pbfl/DSC_0258.JPG?dl=0). My gelding is a bay-based leopard who looks relatively red in the light, but he looks good with the grey/nave as well.
I think this combination looks fantastic! It minimizes the rider and draws attention to the horse. Well done!

Don’t think I can post but I ride in grey breeches although I did just buy some white too. Have a navy jacket with suede collar and just bought the Ariat V sport boots with the blue top.

As an aside:
This doesn’t say anything about color of breeches, but it does explain coat and boot color allowed.

I believe the USEF rule is “light colored” breeches. USEF DR 120 “The dress code for all Dressage tests and classes through Fourth Level (see .5 below) is a short riding coat of conservativecolor, with tie, choker, stock tie or integrated stand-up collar, white or light-colored breeches or jodhpurs, boots or jodhpur boots, and protective headgear as defined in DR120.6 and in compliance with GR801.”

I have these and they really are much prettier in person than in this pic: http://kerrits.com/womens/fullseat/cross-over-fullseat-breech

This is a really helpful thread because I have been searching for grey breeches to show in too. To match my horse’s name. I was looking at the smartpak alexus which has a light dove option. Wilker’s also does custom colored pads.

And because dirt always seems to find me. I was looking at the

I have the Ovation Sim Secret Breeches in dove grey with the blue full seat and love them. Totally would not hesitate wearing them to show in, especially with my navy helmet and coat. I’m not sure if they still make that color combination, though.

Just to share some of the ones I’ve found while shopping around for the perfect pair:

“Vapor grey” might be just off-white enough to not clash with my horse. “Moon grey” is too brown for what I am looking for, but a pretty color: http://www.horze.com/full-seat-breeches/horze-crescendo-desiree-womens-full-seat-breeches/36588.html?color=DBR

“Cobblestone grey” seems like it’s a little on the brown side as well but it’s hard to tell with the varied lighting in their stock photos: http://www.horze.com/full-seat-breeches/horze-supreme-grand-prix-womens-full-seat-breeches-with-special-stitches/36378.html?color=CSG%2FPDB

“Smoked pearl” is gorgeous, although on the darker side: http://www.horze.com/full-seat-breeches/horze-supreme-grand-prix-womens-high-waist-full-seat-breeches/36377.html?color=SPG

The Enduracools come in both Titanium and Platinum. Sadly, no real photos of either, just swatches. I ordered the Platinum because I love these breeches and will wear them even if it’s not the exact color I want. Also, these babies do not smooth out any lumps and bumps! http://www.tropicalrider.com/product_detail.asp?p=161

Kerrit’s “silver” is I think almost exactly what I’m looking for, depending on how it looks in real daylight: http://www.ridingwarehouse.com/Kerrits_Spring_Microcord_Full_Seat_Breeches/descpage-KSBB.html

I love the idea of grey breeches. My only word of warning as I looked at pictures: Make sure they are grey enough. Some that are very light/off white just look like dirty white to me.
