I have elhers danlos type 3 and have suffered from severe SI joint pain for several years. My orthopedic specialist (who specializes in EDS patients) and pain management Doctor both agree that at this point I need an SI fusion. Has anyone had this surgery? Were you able to ride after the fusion? Did it impact your ability to ride competitively? How long were you out of the saddle recovering after your surgery? I ride 2 horses 6 days a week. I have ridden PSG previously and currently have a young horse I plan to ride FEI dressage with. The doctors say the surgery will not impact my ability to ride but neither has done an SI fusion surgery on someone that rides competitively. I am nervous about having this surgery and would love to hear from other riders that have had this procedure done. Thanks in advance!
