Sick kitty - vet calling it "Songbird Fever"

Just looking for sympathy I think…

My young female threw up 6 times (that I know of) in less than 12 hours yesterday, so I took her to the vet.

She had a fever of almost 104, and her bloodwork showed infection. Since she’s an indoor/outdoor, vet said most likely ‘songbird fever’.

I googled it, likely a salmonella bug.

Vet gave her an antibiotic shot, anti-emetic, anti-inflammatory, and fluids.

Anyway she’s a bit better this morning but by no means where I thought she’d be.

I do have a follow up appt scheduled this morning, at the very least I think I should have her temp rechecked.

Anybody else been thru this?

My poor kitty…:frowning:

no advice, just sympathy… jingles for you and kitty.

How’s kitty doing now? I haven’t had any experience with that particular fever. But I’ve had a couple cats sick with 104F fevers and high fever knocked them flat. It’s scary, really.

She is much better, thank you!

I did keep my follow up and her temp was down quite a bit - only slightly above normal. By afternoon she was acting much much better and I was so relieved!

She seems fine now, but what I find amusing is that going thru all this has turned her from a somewhat standoffish female to a total love bug. My boys are the ones who fight for a place on my lap and on the bed, the girls are like ‘eh whatever’ but now…she follows me around and begs for attention.

Phew…
