A friend of mine has recently acquired a side saddle from a local woman. She asked me to take a look at it- I used to ride aside but did not have a lot of formal instruction. The saddle has a Silver Cup plate on it by the stirrup bar. I’d never heard of the brand so I did a Google search… nothing came up about side saddles, but it seems they produce low-range english saddles. My impression is that they are Indian or Pakistani? I didn’t get a very close look at it but at first glance it didn’t look cheap or poorly made- it actually looked quite similar to my C&W saddle, including the shaped flap over the stirrup bar. Can any of you tell me anything about this brand? I will try to get photos of the saddle. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
I have never heard of the brand.
Silver cup is an Asian import.
India or Pakistani
Some are worse than others. But they are not the quality of the Olde Name English made sidesaddles. Most are poorly balanced and the billets are way back in the middle of the saddle.
Often the horns are not in the right places either.
Beware of these.

Ditto.
Thanks- that’s kind of what I suspected. I rode aside for a few years but am by no means an educated opinion so I appreciate the input! Most of the Asian saddles I came across when I was buying mine were badly balanced or built on astride trees… definitely not something I would want on my horse.
