I’m not a foxhunter, but I know a lot of sidesaddle folks are also in foxhunting so I figured it’d be a good place to start. Anybody here know if there’s someone who teaches sidesaddle in central MD?
I can’t give you a recommendation, but the ISSO web site (below) is a good place to check, I believe they will also be at the Horse Expo in MD this month, they were the last couple of yrs.
It is fun, of course, I just bought a used saddle and chucked on my, very patient, horse!
Good Luck

I’ve seen the site before, I contact the person who appears to be closest to me on their Instructors page and found out they don’t, actually, give lessons. They invited me to set up a time to come out and visit, though, but after that I never heard anything (and I didn’t want to nag).
I do have a pretty patient horse but I suspect fitting his couch-back for a sidesaddle isn’t going to be easy! (part of why I’d like to lesson with someone else first, no point in doing all the work to get a saddle I’ll never ride in, etc)
There is usually a Sidesaddle Demo at the Equine Affaire. You might find someone through that venue.
Ask around. I’d love to help you but I am 3,000 miles over on the West side of the USA. You might check on some of the Yahoo groups pertaining to Sidesaddle. There are several on the Yahoo groups site. You might find someone close by you that can help.

Our dressage instructor knows sidesaddle. He teaches at our place monthly and also in MD. You will need the saddle first though.
