Silt fencing

Has anyone used silt fencing on their outdoor arena to keep the sand from blowing away? I was at a show yesterday and there was silt fencing all around the base of the arena. First time I had ever seen it. Does anyone know if it is effective?

In order for silt fence to function properly, the bottom portion of it needs to be buried- preferably at least six inches. Then, you have to deal with the little 2" by 2" posts, which are a pain.

Can you get hold of some telephone poles? They work really well, and they don’t move, if you install them right.

Next option is silt sock, or bio log. Bio log is permanent, and makes it’s own mini- berm. You might want to contact one of your local landscaping contractors, or go directly to a company that supplies and installs these products.
