Several people at my barn swear by their products. I am always skeptical of herbs, but also my retired horse does really well on Devil’s Claw and Yucca for an old ankle injury, and Spirulina for his cough, so I guess I don’t completely write them off either. Four year old mare seems to be really struggling with seasonal allergies this year. Tried Spirulina to begin with with no improvement, and she will NOT touch TriHist in her grain. I was venting about this to a fellow boarder and she immediately started suggesting I try Silver Lining Herbs. Sure enough, they do have a Respiratory mixture, but at $80 a bag for a two-month supply, oof. I am also considering Rosehips, adding an omega oil, or just plain Vitamin C.
I’ve used their herbs for Respiratory issues; my pony has mild asthma and often has elevated repiration and a cough. They recommended I also add their Immune Support formula as well. I think it did help, as he doesn’t have a cough except for the few at the beginning of trotting. I’ve also used Total Body and Liver and Herbal Dewormer. Like you I now give my pony Spirulina (Uckele Lung EQ) and since it has a lot of other ingredients, I stopped the Total Body and Respiratory. The Liver is given for about a month after receiving vaccines. I liked having a few supplements to choose from on hand for whatever came up, but now I keep it simple.
A boarder at my barn has a mare with sarcoids/melanomas and she swears their products have helped. I’m still using the Dewormer but haven’t checked its effectiveness with fecals (pony is in giant poopy drylot and getting his fresh poop at the right time is a challenge).
SLH have great people to talk to on the phone and will call right back with information. Of course they’re selling, but will have stories and examples and testimonials of others in your same situation.
