Size blanket for 12.2 hh pony?

Hey guys, I need some assistance.
I just pulled a ~12.2 hh pony mule from a sale pen. She is being transported next week. She’s thin and I would like to have a blanket ready for her when she arrives since the weather is so up and down. She looks to have a great thick coat but I really don’t like the thin guys having to burn calories staying warm I just am not sure what size to buy. I’ve looked on google but different charts say different sizes, from 54" on up to 63".

Can any of you with these little guys help me out and let me know what size blanket yours wears? Unfortunately I don’t have anyone who is able to measure her right now.

My chunky Welsh pony wore a 58, I think. I would go with something around that size(56-58), it might be a little big but probably not super huge.

Same with my welsh pony who is just about that size. He takes a 58.
Hope you keep us posted on her progress. Good luck with her!

I had a 12.2h welsh pony and he took a 63 I believe

58 fit mine ~ they are in ‘round’ fit condition

 • make sure you get an adjustable front closure not a closed front so you can snug it up until she fills out a bit *

IMHO

also make sure you can return the blanket if too big … your pony looks small … 56 ?

Thanks guys. I’ll buy a cheap 58" for now just to hold her over until I can measure. Now just to get her here, the anticipation is killing me!

I’ve got a welsh that I pulled from a feed lot beginning of December and she measures a 60, but her weight is much better than this little girl.

Thank you for saving her

 58 w/open front so it can be adjusted & easier to put on. If she’s never been blanketed getting a closed front over her head could be .

My 13H Hackney started as a 57 & now wears a 60.
Which could be why my shoer asked if I am planning on butchering him

Awww, she looks like she will be quite the cutie when she gets some groceries onboard. :love-struck:

My 12.2h guy wears a 58/60, but he’s always been a little fat and he’s a little long. So it sounds like 58 is a good plan!

My 12h wears a 57 and my previous 12.3h wore a 63, which my current 13.1 hand mare wears now. Your guy looks short in the body, so I think you’ll do well with a 58. It could be a little too big or too small, but will certainly be good enough.
