Congrats to GBR for their Team Silver! Wish it could have been Gold for them, but I am not unhappy for the Germans - Klimke and Jung especially are so deserving of a top spot!

Too funny. and true! Where do you think we got our Puritans?
(Although the point of style (or more accurately, what we Americans think is style) over substance has been seen here in the horse world in the show ring & certainly in foxhunting).
LOL, foxhunting is much more rough and ready and active here in the southern US. More room, less law.

Yes - it is apparently official.

Shame.
Now if the powers that be are so worried about the horse’s welfare, why in H*** are they making them do another round??? Really, complaints about giving two medals for one performance have NOTHING to do with the important things like the horses!!!
The powers that be are the IOC, so why would they be as concerned or have the same concerns as horsemen? So, if you don’t want to see two rounds, thenmay as well remove eventing from Olympics. I have mixed feelings about it’s being in the Olympics in the first place, but for now I, personally, would rather they stayed.
what a great ride by the Italian!
I really respect Ingrid’s decision. The horse isn’t in contention, he’s not a good show jumper, why put him through a second round? There’s no point, so she withdrew to save him the stress. Some other riders on very tired horses should have considered doing the same if they’re no where near the top. Olympics and pride be darned.

event horses are simply not used to 2 rounds of jumping in a three day - may be tough to get them back “up” for the extra round. Once every 4 years, means once in a lifetime for most horses.
And this round is higher than the first, IIRC.
I have to say, the horses aren’t looking as tired as I expected after the fatigue shown at the end of XC. Plenty of long spots being gone for successfully. I guess we are seeing the best few.
I don’t want to jinx it but I wonder how Campino will go for MT, as he is young and more tired than these other horses are looking.

That is my feeling as well.

Absolutely. And a very good example of why I respect her so much. She is not only a VERY good rider, but also a very good horsewoman. I am deeply impressed.
The distances on that triple combo kind of suck.
Someone should that little grey Italian horse he’s supposed to be tired!
Clear for Karen…she rode both SJ rounds incredibly well.
Sound the trumpets here comes Zara !
Zara’s up watch through fingers time
