O’Connor misses out on Gold medal jump-off by .02 sec.
Thing is he only got into today’s round when Bengston’s horse came up lame this morning. Plus he wasn’t supposed to be at OG in first place.
Schroeder clear!!!
O’Connor last fence down!!! Was way ahead on time.
Let’s see if O’Connor can hold onto his medal this time.
He was FLYING. He still looks pleased with himself and his horse though.

Luck of the Irish x a zillion = bronze medal.

Why not?
Wow. My 3 favorite horses of these games – all down to the end. Big Star, London and Pilot Blue.
I am exhausted jumping every jump with them.
Except for the fact that Rich has that one rail in the first round, he would have been jumping off for the silver, too… (but, as we know, IF my grandmother had wheels, she would be a bicycle…)

The Irish exchanged Denis Lynch for him in the last minute. Lynch tried to get CAS to overrule but no.
Great riding skills today!! Wonderful horses!!! Rich did excellent too!

REALLY felt sorry for Nick, the first rail down for the two of them in the whole Olympics…

Denis Lynch was supposed to have that spot. Irish NF yanked him a couple of weeks before games after hypersensitivity thing at Aachen.

Cian is here in place of Denis Lynch, who could not attend due to another horse testing positive for hypersensitivity prior to the Games. It was quite a big deal…

Gotcha.
He wasn’t supposed to be in the individual’s but Rolf and Casall withdrew today.
Yup he had a lot of luck to be here but he also made the most of it. Many in his country weren’t even behind him and yet he gets his country a bronze.
You know what will be nice. Listening to the news on the radio in the barn tonight. Normally it goes like this, “another disappointing day for the Irish at the Olympics today.” Well guess what, no disappointment tonight. And it’s nice to win a medal in something other than boxing.
Jumping and boxing. Go Ireland!

How did Bengston’s horse going lame let O’Connor in? I thought that any tie on the cusp got in, even if it was more than the predetermined number.

LOVE Gerco’s horse! Super round… Way to hussle around the turns.[/QUOTE]
I really like that horse, too!

Also Larocca and Demeersman got in with him!
So, as I understand it, for Ireland, Lynch was selected, but, for some reason (?), he was replaced by O’Connor. Lynch took his case to the CAS and, just last week he lost, so O’Connor got to come?
And, these 2 have each been stripped of a medal/disqualified at one of the last 2 Olympics for drug infractions?
WTF is Ireland doing?
Yeah it was just Ireland stripped of their Olympic medals.
Facts.
Did his 3 months.
Has had no infractions since Athens.
Should we just keep bringing that up. Would we bring up Ludger if he won a medal?
He obviously deserved to be there.
