Has anyone been to the Skyline Ranch Resort in Front Royal, Virginia? A couple of girlfriends and I are planning on riding/ camping there in a couple of months. From what I’ve heard- trails are rocky and steep (we’re all good with that) and the facility is very nice but I was wondering if any COTHers had any insight?
No, but I know some folks in the area. I’ll ask.

Thank you- I appreciate it!
A friend and I have passed the place a few times in the past. It looks really nice, and I’ve heard good things about it. Situated on a main paved road, close to the Massanuttens where the Old Dominion does their fall ride. It’s at the north end of the Massanuttens with lots of trails heading up the mountains. Views are spectacular (I’ve been up those mountains with friends on a day long trail ride).
You do want boots or shoes. We had two people in our group that were barefoot. What…a …mistake. They and their horses had to creep along over the rocky trails, which held up the rest of us.
The trails are all shady. Carry water for yourself as there isn’t any on the mountain. Lots of streams below, however, including Passage Creek, which is nice and wide and shallow and horses LOVE it. A nice treat after riding the crest of the mountain all day.
