Sliding Barn Door Locks

Looking for ideas for locks on our sliding barn doors. Ideally I would like something that locks from the inside but can be unlocked with a key from the outside (just like a normal door). I have done some initial searching but have come up empty. The locks are only for when there are no horses in the barn. Our barn is mostly used for hay storage but there are times I have some tools or other equipment I need to temporarily put in the barn over night and would like to be able to lock it up.

Something you can operate from both sides is not easy on barn doors. If you have a tight fitting one you may be able to find a hookbolt lock to go on the side, or a mortise lock that goes out the bottom and meets a hole in the ground. You’ll probably want bigger ones than normal though.

Mostly people have a person door with a separate lock, and do something one sided for big sliding doors. It’s easy to put a padlock through two eye bolts on the inside for instance, but you have lots of options if you don’t need to be able to unlock it from both sides.

I wonder if this might work for you?
