Small animal vet in Maryland

I’m looking for a small animal vet in Maryland who will either not charge extreme prices or will do payment plans. My toy poodle is 9 years old and has went off of his food which he previously loved- Nature’s Variety Instinct raw frozen. He usually goes wild for it. I thought maybe it was that he was tired of the rabbit flavor so I bought chicken, and he still won’t eat it. He will eat it if I smash it on the roof of his mouth… but I don’t like force feeding him especially knowing how much he loved his food before.

Where in Maryland… It’s a big state:)

I am in the Towson area but will travel as far as an hour if the deal is awesome. I wonder if vet schools take appointments but I looked at the ones near me online and didn’t see anything about that.

? Maryland doesn’t have a vet school. They have a partnership with UVa, and some of the research stuff is at College Park. The University of Pennsylvania vet school does see clients, but I think the small animal hospital is in Philadelphia.

I’ve been using Dr. Kristin Vance (she’s a mobile vet based from Bel Air) and like her a lot. She seems fairly reasonable price-wise. But I think you are going to have a hard time finding someone super cheap in this area, or someone who will take payments from a new client. Maybe try calling your local humane society and ask who they use/ recommend. You might also try CareCredit (credit card specifically for vet bills.)

I saw that there are veterinary programs at University of Maryland and CCBC but they must be different. I’ll ask the pet rescue at my work who they use.

Towson veterinary next to the diner is excellent. Padonia veterinary hospital in cockeysville is very affordable. Ruxton animal hospital is good, but it’s in Ruxton so it’s not the cheapest place. I don’t know if any of these places do payment plans.

Care credit is probably the closest you are going to get to a payment plan.

A shelter-associated veterinary practice is likely your best bet for cheap care. It’s not going to be top quality, though.

Vet schools do take appointments, but for $$$.

Jhein- it’s a little bit of a hike, about 45 minutes, but Dr. Molesworth at Main Street Veterinary Hospital in Reisterstown is excellent. I’m not very familiar with the rest of the vets in the practice but my mother’s animals have been patients of Dr. Molesworth for at least 25 years. The practice’s rates are far more reasonable than anything you’re going to find in Towson.

Thank you. If he doesn’t improve by tomorrow evening I am going to give them a call. He has done this in the past and then snapped out of it. It has just not happened in so long that I find it suspicious.
