Small-animal vet recommendations for Chapel Hill, NC?

It looks like we may be moving in mid-August to the Chapel Hill area, and I’ll need to find a small-animal vet for our two dogs and one cat.

I know there are at least a few COTHers from that area, so if anyone has any recommendations (or even who to avoid), I’d appreciate it.

I used to use Triangle Vet for my kitties (before I moved farther away and got a kitty that hates car rides). They are actually in Durham, but it’s an ok drive from Chapel Hill - on Old Chapel Hill Rd.

Don’t know if he’s still there, but Dr. Miller is great!

The practice has been around a long time - in fact, back in the 70s, used to also do a large animal practice.

Thanks, I’ll check them out.

Suzy Hughes at Colony Animal Park (off of 15/501 in the Duke area).

Bruce Tarkington at Parkwood Animal Hospital is excellent. About 15 minutes away from Chapel Hill on hwy 54, near RTP. My family in Durham has used him for years.

Cornwallis Road Animal Hospital in Durham. Dr. Larry Swengburg and Dr. Don Heagren own it are have been long time friends of the family. They’ve treated lots of our animals and are very good. I don’t know about the other vets in the practice, but I would ask for one of them.

Second vote for Suzanne Hughes. It’s actually listed as Durham, but it is right next to Chapel Hill. I had a Dalmatian and used her as she is a top notch Dalmatian breeder but she is also a wonderful vet no matter what. She was so good when I had to put my one dog to sleep and was a wonderful vet for my terrier.

Another vote for Colony Park in Durham, Dr. Hawkins and Suzy Hughes are great!

Except Bruce Tarkington retired about a year ago :frowning: Totally agree, we used them for 30+ years, and my parents even before that. I was so sad when he retired, but he certainly earned some R & R!!!
