SmartOsteo vs Platinum Performance Osteon

I’m looking for feedback or experiences with either SmartPak’s SmartOsteo or Platinum Performance’s Osteon.

My 13yr old Lippizan gelding was diagnosed with OCD lesions in both hind fetlocks via CT scan this past week. He will have stem cell injections this coming week and then six months off. We will do a follow up CT at that time to determine if the stem cells did the trick or see if he’s a candidate for further treatments such as PRP. I’d like to add to his current supplements to aide in healing and have come across the Osteo as well as the SmartPak product. Currently I am a client of SmartPak so there is a convenience factor to using their product however if PP’s Osteon is better then I’ll go with that.

Any input would be appreciated.

I don’t think any feed supplement is effective for issues like this, let alone worth the cost. Stem cell and PRP treatments are truly hit or miss as well. Steroidal joint injections and sometimes Adequan or Legend can be helpful, but there are no silver bullets for OCD lesions. Correct exercise, lots of turnout and NSAID management are your friends. I’m sure you’ll get a ton of anecdotal info, but true medical studies…not so much.

Sent you a pm

I haven’t used SmartPak’s Osteo but have been using Osteon for my mare coming back from a torn meniscus. They are different products though. Looking at the ingredients, I think the smartosteo sounds like it would be more beneficial for your situation.
