Snakes…

I like what I assume is the kitty deterrent on the top.

I have a corn snake that I got from Laurieruffian several years ago. I highly recommend her. She also raises hognose and I believe has recently gotten into ball pythons

Oh yea, that fat black cat collapsed the mesh in the lid twice so every inch of it has to be covered in spikes

OMG…I showed my Mom the pictures of your snake stargzng386…she said she was pretty . Maybe there is hope!

She seems to make sure they are all eating well and such before she sells them. They seem to really love their snakes.

I believe they have to be eating well and have completed 1 shed before she will sell them. We shipped Mushroom from California to Arkansas with no problems.

Yes, both heads have eaten.

I kept her in literally a little travel plastic container at first, then a slightly bigger tank maybe 5 gallons, then when she was really big for that tank moved to the large one. So getting started was really inexpensive. The larger tank came when she was well over a year old.

Thank you…that is what I was thinking but most of the care guides talk about adults. How did you heat one side of the small container. Heat pad?

Yup the size xs heating pad. I did have it hooked into a thermostat that ensures it doesn’t get too hot.

Thank you again. I was having a hard time visualizing how to get a heat gradient in a small container/enclosure. They are pretty small noodles when they are young.

I think I am going to start acquiring the necessary stuff over the next few months. I still haven’t brought up actually getting a snake with Mom but that fact that she thought your snake was pretty kind of blew me away. We’ll see.

I think I have changed back to Hognose as my favorite. Mostly because of size. I think they are a really a good size for small house living and a beginner owner. I might get a corn snake later.
Just one to start with .

Well…I have been cleaning out old papers and came across the rules for my subdivision (a privately owned 55 plus community) and yep…no snakes (or other exotics). The owner is not pet friendly although cats and dogs are allowed but pretty strict rules and no fences allowed so poor doggies have to be on leash at all times outside. I guess who would know I have a little noodle? Not like I am going to be taking the snake for a walk. But, being a conformist, I will follow the rules.

For now, I will put that dream on hold. I can go volunteer at the reptile zoo and get some snake experience.

At least I ran across those rules before I got a bunch of stuff.

Aww, I’m sorry.

Here’s another picture for your snake fix. Our son’s corn snake, Harvey, likes watching tv. Especially nature shows. His cage is in the living room so he’s more sociable and active. His active hours kind of match up nicely with ours.

I need some off those spiky things for the top of his cage…

I’m not sure…I may get one anyway and test the issue. My development is called land lease. I own the house and the land’s owner own’s the lots. It used to be mobile homes and is no longer but it is still set up that way. Anyway…I own the house so…? May petition the owner too. All she can do is say no.

I for sure need to have alternative homing set up but who is going to know? A male Hognose is such a little noodle and can have a pretty small set up. There would be a lot less mess than with the cat and like I said, it isn’t as if I am going to take it for a walk. Something I will ponder…not willing to give up the dream just yet. I will do some more pondering and researching.

Harvey is gorgeous and looks like he is a pretty chill snake. I love the oranges and reds in his scales. Give Harvey a pat for me :snake: :sunglasses:.

I tend towards rebellion… Get yourself a little snuggle noodle on the down low & just enjoy it.

My God! I even panic when I see a WORM.

Down here in the deep south we have hoop snakes. They grab their tails in their mouths, assume a hoop shape, and will roll down hills chasing you.

Mine pissed on me. Then bit me. It was love. She took a few years to settle but she is a super chill girl now at 6.

What kind of snakes?

:joy:

That’s the first time I’ve heard that. Maybe I’m not far enough south.

Just the one, the pics are out of order. She is a coastal carpet python. The middle image was the night I brought her home.
