I saw a terrible lip cut, rip really, from a water bucket. The metal hoop that goes from handle to bucket edge. According to the vet it is a common injury.

Over the years I’ve seen 3 eyelids in various stages of “ripped off”, one nostril, and a lip - all from water buckets. Very rarely was carnage on the bucket itself! None of the horses were mine, but I did have to hold a sedated pony’s head up on my shoulder, at a show, while the vet stitched her eyelid back on. I tape ALL handle loops now for this reason!
