So...coat color.

Could I get away with this in the field? (To be honest, I cannot tell the difference between their “black” swatch and this swatch, though the difference between them and charcoal or navy is significant. Besides, I don’t want another navy coat.) The price is really hard to pass up.

Also–does anyone own this brand/material and know if the coats run small or large? The 10 short SHOULD fit me, going by their size chart, but if they run small I would rather get a 14 short and have it taken it where needed.

I have this coat. It is definitely brown, not black/navy. However, it is very acceptable for cubbing.

RJ Classics run true to street-size, so if you wear a 10 short in regular clothing, a 10 S in RJs will fit you.

Well, I went with the 14 short since I can always have a coat taken IN, but letting things out only works if you have a serious seam allowance. And for $35 I can take it to a tailor guilt-free. If anyone hasn’t looked, while the sizes are limited some of their sale prices are absolutely bargain-basement–even the $105 for black is a good buy, IMO. (So I got that in 12 short, which SHOULD fit on its own, but again, at these prices, tailoring is not unreasonable.)

Honestly, I think hunter/jumper people really get weird about color…most of the blacks and navy blues and at least this brown swatch look exactly alike to me. They’re all solid darks. Maybe dance just spoiled me, as there when we say dresses are different colors they’re REALLY different colors!
