so if I was feeling brave....

I’ve told myself for my whole life that I didn’t want to jump solid obstacles. Then a couple years ago I got brave and did! I started riding cross country  I’ve be remembering how I also swore I would never ride to hounds because my mare would leave them behind… well it turns out that since I’ve taken up sidesaddle, I kinda want to go hunting!
I’ve got a local farm that will be hosting in a couple weeks and again in april. Who is going to convince me to do this??

Also, since i’d be doing this sideways i’m hoping that my navy habit will be appropriate. I do have brown if that’s what would be better, but the navy is much nicer! Just not sure what is called for this time of year. I’ve got the fancy extras like a sandwich case and flask (unfortunately I don’t drink though) but do I need to add/subtract anything? Will I be shamed for using square raised leather?

The modern sidesaddle was developed in the 19th century by a professional hunt servant (forgotten his name) who was injured and so unable to ride astride and it certainly does the job. It will be essential to have a couple of practice goes over fences and see how you like it: jumping in time with the horse is a different skill when sideways. Possibly have a lesson with someone who has the experience.

Otherwise, you will add so much glamour and style to any meet that no one is going to fuss about your outfit (and as far as I understand, navy is correct wear for most of the season).
