So.....skunks.

Hahahahahaha, I agree. Whenever I have a question about horses, horse managment, dogs, barns etc, I always turn to COTH - and we don’t even have skunks here, so I’ve never smelled one. But I do have JR terriers and they seem to be especially talented at getting smelly.

Yep, a friend of ours is staying with us and was home when it happened (DH and I were out). She texted me about it, I replied and told her not to let the puppers in the house. Her response was “Oh, I put them in the laundry room…”:disgust::disgust::disgust:

The absolutely BEST stuff on the planet for skunk smell is Odormute. It’s made by Ryter, the folks who make urinal cakes. They know their stink. It’s an enzymatic formula, and you can buy the powder to keep on hand. It will keep for years on the shelf, and you mix it up when you need it.

I learned this from working for several years at a pet store and had customers return to me time and time again swearing by it. I have now had the pleasure of using it twice, and it works beautifuly. Only problem with the last time I had to use it was that the skunk got the dog right between the eyes and I didn’t have the guts to try washing with it there.
So every time she gets wet between the eyes I still get a faint whiff of skunk but overall we went from horrible to nothing noticed by house guests the following day. (Of course she got it the night before I was supposed to have people over!)
