I buy supplements exclusively from SP, in buckets. It used to be their prices could not be beaten.
Honestly, I’m nervous to continue using them since they seem to be so inconsistent in performance.
Need other vendors you like and count on. Thanks.

Honestly I get my MSM from Amazon.
I get my liquid HA joint supp. from Jeffers. They’re fast and easy to work with.
Jeffers, Valley Vet, or Riding Warehouse
They are going belly up? I had no idea. I’ve never had problems with them and have been using them for years.
Yes, they’re going out of business.
that’s exactly what I meant.
ETA ^^ THIS IS SARCASM. SMART PACK IS NOT CLOSING, EINSTEINS**
Why are you rolling your eyes? Is there a requirement here that everyone needs to be up to date on Smartpak, or are you just being snarky?
Just read the “issues with smartpak” thread and didn’t see anything about smarkpak going out of business. It must be discussed in another thread that I haven’t read.
Even though I’ve had trouble with Smartpak with normal orders, I’ve had NO trouble with them with supplement orders SO FAR…so fingers crossed that continues.
“Circling the drain” is certainly strong wording, OP, and your being snarky over what sounds like a pretty darn reasonable question by a respondent doesn’t inspire others to want to answer you. Yeesh.
This is my thought too. No trouble with my supplements and the other troubles are not that huge of a deal. Having trouble with your new software is not something to be shocked about. It certainly does not mean Smartpak is going out of business or even close to circling the drain.
OT but why are some supplements (not the SP brand) only offered on their auto refill program? Wanted to order some Succeed from them but it only gave me auto refill options to buy it. Needless to say I went to Valley Vet to order.
Jeffers - can often have items backordered for months, no correspondence from them either. Ordered something said it was in stock, come to find out it was indefinitely back ordered. They never bothered to tell me. Often low on items which sometimes means you can order it but don’t get it. It was great to shop in person at Jeffers, lots of bargains but ordering from them is hit and miss.
I’ve always had good luck with Valley Vet.
This has been my experience to date as well, but I like to hear what others’ experiences are, and who they’ve used successfully. Frankly I LOVE SP.
I’m just fearful that these issues with them have been going on for at least a year and figured – being pessimistic-- it would impact the supplements end of their business eventually.
If you read the other thread it is not that they have had a problem for a year, it is that they have had two separate problems one about a year ago and one now.
I agree that no problems would be better, but just clarifying that this is not one problem that has gone on for a year with out being fixed.
I just got their latest catalog & IMHO it appears they are trying to be another Dover or Stateline.
At least 1/2 the catalog was clothing for rider & horse, tack, etc.
Maybe they should have stayed with what got them started - the prepackaged supplements?
@Sansena everything they offer is available from other vendors, just not in the tidy little packs.
You may have to go Old School and buy larger quantities, dole out or package them yourself.
If you compare pricing you come out a bit cheaper buying bulk.
I love Smartpak still. They are very responsive and fast enough. The clearance section can have great deals.
i also use Uckele for single ingredient stuff like zinc and copper. Horsetech if I want something custom.
I love Smartpak and have had no issues with them. Last year around this time I had one order (for a bridle) that arrived late after a warehouse issue, and they sent me a coupon which I used happily on my next order.
My horse has also been on Smartpak supplements for about a year now and I’ve had no issues there.
Which one do you like?
Agree, bulk is the way to go for $aving. I’ve never once bought a smart pack but agree they’re damned useful in large boarding operations.
I get everything from Horsetech and Uckele. Very happy with both companies.
I put together my own zip lock baggies for the barn. I use a few different supps, and I’ve been combining them myself for years. It takes under 5 min to scoop on a weekly basis (unless I’m heading out on vacation for a longer period of time, I just always do a week’s worth at a time)
MSM - I order from Riding Warehouse, Amazon or HorseTech
Vit/Min Balancer - I use the SE-free version from California Trace
Magnesium - I use bulk MagOx powder now (1 Tablespoon), but previously used Magnesium 5000. I order 5lbs at a time from either HorseTech or CA Trace.
Which supplement or which vendor?
They’re both super easy to work with. Amazon has an app which is really convenient.
The MSM is the big yellow bucket, Select Best? The liquid HA is Flex Force pure HA. It has 100 mg HA. Price for MSM is maybe $22? Gallon of Flex Force is $50 plus freight shipping (about $20) and lasts for months and months. You have to keep it in the house because if it gets too hot or too cold it’s ruined.
Both vendors are great with shipping speeds, confirmations, tracking, etc.
