Who’s going to brave it and watch?
I assume GBR provided the horses as the host country? Anyone know?

Oh my, I have no information on this…do you know when/what? Do you think it will be live streamed?
According to the TV schedule, MSNBC on Sat, Aug 11 & NBCSN on Sun, Aug 12.
I’ll probably try to watch it on the BBC feed.
ME!! I’ve been following it since I helped out in March at the world cup. Even am trying my hand at fencing these days.
I’ve made it my goal to see a little of every sport so I’ll watch.
Definitely watching!
One of my favorite sports to watch…and one of the truly traditional Olympic sports. I once won a contest on a talk radio sports show because I was able to name the five events!
The jumping part is, generally, just too ugly to watch.
ALL of you are going to watch the pentathlon. Did I make myself clear?
The mens is on the 11th and the womens is on the 12th, the two final days of competition.
The horses come from the UK, most have previous pentathlon experience, and are very well suited for the sport. Athletes go to competitions in England knowing the horses will be top-class and the jumps will be big.
The standard of riding has risen considerably in recent years. There are some very, very good riders in the mix.
But don’t just watch the riding. The combined run/shoot event makes its Olympic debut in 2012, with athletes running 1K laps interspersed with shooting laser pistols (also new) at targets. It’s a very exciting evolution in the sport and it’s great fun to watch.
Me me me!! I’ve been looking forward to it - for me it’s one of the most olympic-like sports: mildly obscure yet unquestionably useful skills. When the zombies come I want the pentathletes on my side.
I’m going to try to watch! My cousin is on team USA! she comes from a fox hunting and steeplechase background, as well as pony club’s version of the decathlon (not sure of the number of events therefore don’t know the correct prefix :))
My daughters and I will be watching! My oldest is a Pony Club Tetrathlete, 8 and under Champion this year and my little one will do her first Tet rally next June. They are very excited about it. Both can’t wait until they are 13 so they can take fencing lessons at the local Y.
Agree with the previous poster, all very useful skills to have!
