Our power company’s coming out to replace our decrepit meter pole, so I have an opportunity to replace the 1970s ugly sodium vapor fixture that’s up on the existing pole.
Looking for something that’s beautiful/historic looking to complement my late 1800s farm. Big-- it’s a tall pole and a large area, so a 10" type fixture would look dwarfed. That said, I don’t need klieg-light brightness. It’s just to welcome you on the driveway, and get you safely to the barn where I have a bright LED barn light for task work. Down-shielded to minimize light pollution. I want something that’s programmable so it goes on at dusk but goes off at a programmed time, but we could just wire in a separate, down-pole switch with a timer to accomplish that with any light fixture.
You have likely already checked this site: I ordered from them when I built my new barn.
This company has nice looking stuff. https://www.nilandco.com/products

Electrician came today and he said he thinks he can get our utility to run the line underground, instead of replacing the rotten utility pole. Since the job is to replace their own pole, the utility will bear the cost of the project. At most we’d just have to pay the cost difference between overhead and underground.
So, so excited about this. I’ve always hated the utility pole that’s by the house-- the main walkway to the house has to curve around it. Basically, the pole is square dab in the center of the path you’d instinctively WANT to walk if only that damn pole wasn’t there. I’ve often wondered if I could relocate it but there are so many trees and other utilities in the area like the well pump. And besides it just seemed like a hugely unnecessary cost for something as frivolous as “I just don’t like this pole.”
So, lesson to be learned-- just wait out the damn pole and it’ll rot itself out of existence and someone else will have to pay for it. By going underground, we’ll eliminate all of the overhead lines shown in red here:
The green overhead lines will stay–that other pole is the “hub” that powers the outbuildings. But that’s ok, they’re not as obtrusive as the ones right by the house. Besides, if I got rid of ALL our power lines, what would all the barn swallows perch on??

@LCDR I did find the Cocoweb site and yes, that is exactly what I’m looking for! I’m going with their Oldage series.
