there are seven horses after Socks in the Regional list

win two Class at Nationals, actually was in one but by score he was overall winner so was also won World thus winning two class while being in one.

Good for him!

Neat, no more shows he went to, he did well!

We used to call those special horses “fliers”.
They did well no matter where and doing what, they just were that good.
They were not many like that and everyone was happy for whoever were part of those horse’s lives, much admired.

it was one rated show, one class that resulted in two wins

So, I am not sure but harness work is next, I think. He has three sets of harness, two working and one show …a stone sleigh ready for him to begin with and a Meadowbrook cart setting under the cover of the patio. Daughter was inquiring about some blankets at a horse rescue who had around three hundred new blankets donated so they were selling off some of the extras…the rescued asked if there was anything else she was needing…Harness?..over here, they had one nearly new set of show harness which she bought at bargain (about 25% of the cost)… then they said here is a set of work harness.

The Meadowbrook cart is actually on lone from the place we got Bonnie, they had no place to store it and no need for the cart so we donated some round bales they needed for the cart to be used ad stored here.

so, daughter was creative and resourceful in getting about $9,000 of equipment for his next odyssey for $600 and some hay. …and that is how you present a horse in first class tack at a Class A show on the cheap

Good for her, now on to the next adventure.
As big as he is, it will take a large harness to fit him.

In the part of Europe I grew in, we didn’t start a horse under saddle until four, just was not done.
We had the occasional client bring a three year old late in the year and insisted we start them.
We convinced them maybe harness was a better way to start one early.
We had two old soul, kind draft horses for our farm wagon, to bring the hay in the barn, real pulling work.
That is how we started youngsters hitched, along with one of them, as soon as they were comfortable with the harness and dragging light stuff.
Youngsters seemed to listen to their elder and we never had any problems.
They learned right away, no wrecks, as we heard at times from others.

Since you don’t have that set-up, Socrates will just have to learn on his own.
Bet that won’t be a problem.

Socrates has been saddled, it was a nothing event. It was just a Oh, OK what’s next. He has not been worked under saddle, nor will he for a while as he is still a young horse. He accepted the saddle as most Morgans do it seems that they have read the book on training before you start.

After talking with several respected trainers at Nationals, all think that Socks still has another hand or so of growth.

He is a good guy, but a hand full when its 35F

Ha, my 22 year old is offering airs above the ground the last days.
This cold spell brings the best in them, young or old, does it.

Congratulations to Socrates and Aimee!

My boys are feeling fine with the cold weather, too – me, not so much.
