Socrates update ... "he is stunning"

Daughter has lightly started the lad under saddle as he is nearing three years old

This weekend he is at a dressage schooling show, the only Morgan there in a sea of imported and domestic warmbloods and OTTBs …apparently he being different is attracting attention mostly comments have been “he is stunning”

Daughter is pleased as really he does try to be a good guy

this is not the most recent photo but the latest I have from when she started him under saddle which was not a big deal for the lad, just another day for him

The atmosphere of a dressage show must be nothing for him now!
He is very cute, if I didn’t know his breeding, based on that picture I’d say he looks like some of the Arab x warmblood crosses I’ve seen.

photo is a few months old, he currently is two months shy of being three years old.

He has been schooled with a few of the horses stabled near him so yes it was old home weekend for him to see some of his buddies that he attached to fairly quickly.

He is between 15 and 16 hands, still growing

He is of old style blood lines of Funquest Morgans, he has much of the same blood as Funquest Erick who was the first Morgan to be tested and approved as an American Warmblood.

I can see why, he is a gorgeous specimen of a Morgan. His face makes him look so wise beyond his years.

He is gorgeous. Clearly a Morgan. Love the ears that are about ready to fall off his head they are so far forward. Love those old school bloodlines.

Love it!! So awesome that he is doing so well.

admittedly I am pretty close to the lad and my only reference is when we bought Foxie in 1990 when Foxie was just turning two. But Socks seems to be on the same track. I just remember it took Foxie about a eighteen months of constant training to become a very reliable solid citizen

Here is Foxie at the about same age as Socrates is now… little girl in pink standing by Foxie is the smiling rider on Socrates today

Classy is all over her there.

What wonderful horses and their starling personality is part of it.

Glad they fell in the right hands to bring the best in them.

Lucky everyone, horses and humans.

thanks but what our “goal” has always been has been to provide the Horse the opportunity to be the best they can be

Sure its is nice to be the owner of record of the horse, but our desire has been to provide the horse the chance to prove itself against it own. We have found some like to compete others prefer to remain in the backyard

I guess our goals are for a happy horse (as well as dog or goat)

And the Goats…they did catch the attention of a popular TV show who was interested in the Goats as performers… got word back that the producers were concerned the goats would runoff the stage into the audience so passed on the Preforming Goats for 2021 but said they wanted progress reports for 2022. Also granddaughters are now paid professional Goat trainers (I guess they lost their amateur status?) as they have taken on a Client to train a goat for them.
