Snickers has two, well three chew toys practically made of iron, that he chews on, that seem to be indestructible. He MUCH prefers to chew softer things, like soft cotten that he can shred in an instant. Well, within 5 minutes anyway. He accidentally got ahold of a ball given to me from a hospital to strengthen my grip I think. a nice soft sort of a ball. Well, as soon as he got it, there was a large chunk out of it. Are there soft toys that are indestructible?
Snickers thanks you, and I thank you.
I won’t commit to indestructible – our pit bull has opened up a small portion of one of the seams on her Squiddy, but that’s all despite ferocious play and her soft-toy-destroying tendency – but we’ve had good luck with these guys: http://www.amazon.com/Kyjen-Squeaky-Squiggler-Monster-Squiddy/dp/B003BNZLPM/ref=sr_1_1?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1334445690&sr=1-1
Nylabone does make some (slightly) softer chew toys. They are black and a little “rubbery” for lack of a better word. I will say though, that my Doberman was able to get small pieces off of it, so it didn’t work for him. He is young and was going through a very major chewing phase at the time… but I still think they might not be right for every dog. (He does just fine with the regular, hard Nylabones.)
They aren’t really soft, but have you tried any of the Tire Biter toys? Not necessarily the tires, but the bones? My dobe has chewed through the tires, but not the bone-shaped ones. They are a bit softer than a normal Nylabone.

We also tried a toy that was said to be made of the same material as a fire hose. We thought that might work, but the big dobe chewed the seam open in a matter of minutes.
I feel your pain!
The only durable toys I have found for my dog are the ones that are made from fire hose material or ballistic nylon. Anything else, he has managed to shred quickly.
thanks for the rep;ies
He has the three Kong types and he LOVES the ring, hard rubber, and it takes a vigorous chewing! but the look of pure delight when he got that soft ball… I don’t think he swallowed anything he has chewed up, but it is probably just a matter of time…
The soft Nylabones lasted about 10 min from the store in my care to the house before big chewer dog had ingested them.
As for “soft” I’d recommend the CUZ balls–they’re softer than Kong balls because they’re not solid. But they stand up. just cut the feet off to avoid obstructions. I do “surgery” on all Cuzs before they get handed to a dog.
