Hi, I have a really sensitive boy. The sides of his head where the halter noseband sits in particular. I think a really soft / flexible webbing halter might work but trying to find out which are the best. Thank you
I love these. They are super soft and are the only halter I have tried that doesn’t give my mare rubs in the trailer.
I don’t have any advice about halters, but have you considered using a collar instead? I have a mare who freaks out if she is crosstied in a halter but she’s fine being crosstied in a collar. I first tried using a leather belt a few times and once I saw she accepted it, I bought a collar. Maybe try leading him around that way and see how it goes?
This is the one I have: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/203582198496?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28
I have several of the Dura-Tech halters with one going on 10yrs? Daily use. I have black and the fuscia one and you can personalize too. Highly recommend.
Bucas. My horse goes bald in anything else. I think the light weight of them helps a lot. Bonus (and possibly negative point if halter tag is played a lot) is that the hardware is sufficiently light and “cheap” that it will break in an emergency so they don’t have the same safety concerns as normal webbing halters.
The only thing that annoys me is that I usually end up taking the crown piece off and putting the buckle on the opposite side to balance the weight of the hardware so they sit straight on the horse’s face. This is my personal thing, it just bugs me, not a necessary thing to do. Yes, the webbing is that light that even the light hardware on the same side (throat latch clip and crown piece buckle) will make them sit just a bit crooked.
