SoloShot2 - tips? updated use? have questions for other SoloShot-ers

Thank you all for your replies! I am hoping to try filming this weekend. I did update my bundle and separately updated my camera controller. I tried recording my dog playing in the yard. However, I think I need to figure out this whole centering thing easier. Plus, my dog may have been too close to the camera. I have since updated the camera controller and have yet to try it again.

Just so I can get my setup better. I am very visual and technical. So, I was wondering if you could help me understand a couple things. How can you describe the centering part of the set up as easy as possible? What is the purpose of centering? What is the purpose of zooming into your centering object?

Thank you again!

Hi SportCorti, here’s some pics I put on another thread about centering and how I do it.
You pick a spot on the ground and make that be in the centre of your camera’s viewfinder. Then, if you don’t have the camera controller, manually select your zoom - it’s a bit of guess work, I used to guess about 3 horse lengths that would fit in the frame. The purpose of zooming in is so when it’s filming you’re not going to be a speck on the screen (depending on how far away you’ve set up your camera).

Here’s the thread with the pics I added a while ago, not sure how to make that thread come in here.

For those looking into SS3, FYI that some of us have now received our SS3 orders and are actively trying them out. We have a few recent SS3 clips of riders on our Soloshot EQUESTRIANS facebook page - come on over!

I’ve just tried the SS3 in a METAL covered arena, and it just stopped tracking me after a few minutes. I set up the base outside the cover, but when I (the tag) was under the metal roof if just lost me. To it’s credit, it tried very hard to find me, and I do love the picture quality of even their cheap 25x camera. I think I’ll be sending it back and getting a pixio :frowning:
