Ugg - yup. Waiting. Although work has been so crazy, I’ve barely been able to ride the last two months, so not much progress to track. I really wish my horse lived closer! Stupid traffic and suburbia. At least I go the indoor attachment, so once it arrives I can record all winter in our covered arena. Bright side! Focus on the bright side!
I didn’t mind the earlier notifications about delayed shipping, but it’s getting a little ridiculous now. A few of us went together and bought one for my trainer as a Christmas present, thinking it would arrive in the Spring of 2016. We ordered in September. Now, every time I get an update, I feel quite embarrassed when I forward it to my trainer. She’s totally okay with it, of course, but I probably would’ve chosen a different present for her had I known we would have to wait SO LONG. Not cool at all.
Just wondering if anyone has an update on availability. I’m really interested in buying either the Soloshot 3 or the Pixio, can’t figure out which would be the best fit for me.
Also wondering if anyone is using these for remote lessons - I would like to find a situation that allows me to take a lesson real time using one of these cameras. Wondering if you stream through skype or webex? Is there sound?
Appreciate any insight that the group has to offer!
I haven’t seen an update since the last, which was shipping starting in mid-October with the majority of preorders shipping in November (in order of sale).
I don’t think the Pixio is anywhere near shipping at all, but I could be wrong about that. Once the SoloShot3 starts shipping, it should be readily available on the market (I would guess regular production/sales in early 2017, once all the preorders are filled).
The SS3 will have wifi capability and some type of way to post online quickly. The basic info does say “live streaming”, but they haven’t said a lot about that yet. My guess is that, if you are wifi, you will be able to share your feed (says 3-30 second delay) with anyone that has your specific link.
Assuming ^ works, then you could have your trainer on the phone & you could ride with a headset on your phone. Trainer could watch your live feed, talk to you on the phone, and you could respond. There would be a bit of a delay - so not instant like in person - but could be really helpful/valuable. They haven’t specified whether the streaming will have audio. I think it will be through Soloshot’s specific cloud software, so not connected to WebEx or Skype. You maybe could make the video camera feed go into your laptop and then show on Skype/WebEx, but that might take some trial&error.
Hope that helps!!
I believe we (regular posters on COTH) are all committed to posting as soon as we can any updates. I know I’ll be sure to post when I get any shipping info, and as soon as my SS3 is here! (I was an early preorder during the first round ~November last year.) I can’t wait!
I have my Pixio - but have not had any time to figure it out! It has been shipping for over a month.
I thought the pixio had started shipping. Love to know what people think of them!
OK I’m going to do a bit more investigating - thanks so much!
Okay, I just found this thread, and I know it kind of ended, BUT have any of you received your SOLOSHOT3 yet?? I’m thinking about ordering one if I can sneak it onto my credit card, but I want to actually receive it soon after I order it…
Thanks!
Not yet. The latest update is that they plan to begin shipping in March.
I just got an update that they will be shipping now in May and June. They will ship the indoor accessory separately. This time I just don’t believe them…they cried Wolf too many times. I am ready to cancel and purchase the Pixio. Anyone else?
Bumping because I’m curious - has anyone received their SS3 or their Pixio? I am interested (maybe) in buying one of these systems.
I have not received my SS3. I was one of the first preorders in September of 2015. I absolutely love my SS2, but getting 50% off the SS3 was too good to pass up. SoloShot sent out an email recently that acknowledged that preorder customers are frustrated with the projected, then missed, shipping dates. Consequently, they said they will not try to predict shipping dates, but will update their progress on this page:
I know someone who has a Pixio. It was more expensive than the SoloShot, but they said the hardware seemed very cheaply made. I have not seen it to compare, but the SS2 hardware is top quality and still looks and works like new three years in. Obviously, I am a very satisfied user, yymv.
SS posts monthly updates on SS3 production status via email and on their Facebook page. We usually get them at the end of the month, so likely another update in the next few days. We won’t know for sure until full orders are actually shipped (or at least they reach out to us to confirm shipping addresses). I’m also part of the original 50% preorder, so like Snowdenfarm I’ll be getting notified when the first batch is officially ready!

I love my SS2 and continue to use it regularly. Getting the SS3 will just be a bonus, and I’m a big fan of the technology and the company. They are good people, trying hard, and make excellent and reliable products thus far.
I’ve heard from a few Pixio owners as well…almost all of whom have since returned the product because it wouldn’t work properly. I hope Pixio is making changes so that isn’t the case in the future - competition is good for keeping companies honest and forward-thinking!
Well, if you are interested in selling the SS2 when SS3 comes out, i would be interested
A couple questions for my SOLOSHOT2 users. I recently bought a new SS2.
When you update the firmware, do you do the update for the camera bundle, the tag, and tracker all together? I have the camera bundle, so I’ve done that update and I’m wondering if I have to update the settings to the camera too.
Also, has anyone tried riding in a covered arena with there SS2?
My last question is - when charging my base, I never get the green light. However, it does power on. I am going to pilot today to make sure it stays on the length of my ride.
TIA
I have only done the updates as a bundle. I have not seen a separate update for the camera.
While I have not tried it in a covered arena, I find that I have to set it up away from trees and buildings as they interfere with the GPS signal, so I am sure it will not work in a covered arena.
To be honest, I have not noticed if the light on the base turns green. But then, I tend to be oblivious. I just leave it charging whenever not in use. I just plugged it in, so I will update if it turns green before I use it again.
I’ve used my SS2 in a covered arena that was covered with fabric as opposed to a solid structure with a traditional roof. It worked fine as long as there was a clear sky. YMMV
Soloshot would not be providing updates for the actual camera as that is a 3rd party, Sony in my case of the camera bundle. The Soloshot firmware update is for the base, the tag and the camera controller. I have not had to change my camera settings after doing a firmware update. Just follow the directions on the website to perform the update.
I do get a green light when charging my base, usually overnight.
I love my SS2 so much that I didn’t even consider the SS3. Maybe someday in the future.
Good Luck!
Technically, tress and building can obscure the GPS signal, they don’t interfere in the true sense of the word the way a jammer would.
Mine did turn green when fully charged.
FYI - for those interested in sharing tips & tricks about the Soloshot, we created a Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1982832341974568/
This is open to all equestrians using Soloshot, both sharing tips as many of us starting using our new SS3s, as well as connecting with SS2 users (new & old). Enjoy!
