SoloShot2 - tips? updated use? have questions for other SoloShot-ers

They’ve always been quick to reply (usually within 24hrs) when I’ve contacted them before. Here are the emails I’ve used / received messages from:

orders@soloshot.com (SS3 preorder confirmation)
leah@soloshot.com (Accounting Clerk, who responded to a question about my preorder sale)
info@soloshot.com (SS3 email updates)

Domestic (toll free) 1-866-347-0869
International (210) 417-4115

Hope that helps!

I’m guessing that’s for new orders - they said early-on that shipment will be in order of sales (so the original preorder folks will receive first, then on in order of sale date). Not 100% sure on that, but I could see how orders placed now in March would ship awhile after the preorders from last Fall. We shall see…

Just wanted to put it out there that if any of you who are upgrading to Soloshot3 are looking to sell your Soloshot2, I’m interested in buying one. I like the product, but for various reasons would rather have a Sony camera than the Optic camera bundled with the Soloshot3 (too bad for me – the pre-order prices on the Soloshot3 are still reasonable!).[/QUOTE]

I have the pro-kit still in the shipping box. For various reasons I never unpacked it. (camera, base and tripod).

I also have one, not in the box, used perhaps three times.

For anyone interested in a timeline update…
I emailed SoloShot about SS3 delivery dates, as I was curious in terms of using my SS2 vs SS3 for some summer events. As usual, they were quick to reply & willing to share. Here is the update I received:

Hi Megan!

Thanks for reaching out to SOLOSHOT! We did push shipping back a season. We are estimating that we will begin shipping pre-orders in late Summer. We will send pre-order updates with more details and information as we get updates from our manufacturers!

The Engineering Validation Testing phase of manufacturing has taken longer than we expected. This is where we find any of the mechanical kinks and bugs in the system. There are three testing phases, with Engineering Validation Testing being the first of these. Since it’s taken a bit longer, everything else gets pushed back as well.

It was definitely not an easy decision to push it back a season, but we are confident it is the right one to ensure that the SOLOSHOT3 units we send out are nothing short of mind-blowing! We don’t want to rush through any of the three critical phases, so it was necessary to postpone for the sake of quality control.

We definitely understand that it is a big investment and we really appreciate you hanging in there with us as we work around the clock to get these out the door.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any future questions or concerns!

Best!
Leah with Team SOLOSHOT

Stacie I sent you another p.m. but haven’t heard back from you.

Wicky could you PM me a price?

Anyone got their 3 yet?

No new update- still “We are estimating that we will begin shipping pre-orders in late Summer.” per the response I got in April. I’m guessing that’s August at the earliest. Anxiously waiting!

I bought a 2 from a Cother. Will gave to wait until 3s actually materialize to make a comparison. But I know I did not want to wait unit Thanksgiving to get one.

I am so happy with my 2 that I am able to patiently wait for my 3. I purchased it early on when it was 50% off and do not regret it. The only issue I have with the 2 that the camera itself runs out of batteries if I try to record two schooling sessions back to back. Not the end of the world, I just pick a different horse to record each time.

Stumbled across this today - they finally have a page on the SS website specifically about using SS for riding. Even looks like the pics were taken at the Woodside Horse Park (which is local for me)!

SS2 buddies!

Would you be interested in helping Beta test for SoloShot?!? I am a Beta tester right now for their new “SOLOSHOTedit” software, which is designed to make it really easy to pull highlight clips from longer footage, piece it together, and then export a “highlight” video clip MP4 to save, as well as share on YouTube/Facebook/etc. It’s neat functionality & I’m excited to help them test it. However,…

I am the ONLY equestrian helping them! (how is this possible?!?) In all the people who have volunteered to Beta test, I am the only one with a horse. While that’s cool, it’s not going to help much in getting the software really dialed for equestrians. I mean, there is only so much of me & Ari going around in circles that people want to see! Plus, all the Beta testing data is helping them build an algorithm that will automatically identify the best clips in the longer footage, so piecing together the highlight video is suppose to be really quick. But, all the data right now is based on surfing, wakeboarding, and other non-horsie sports. I’m trying to get them as much understanding of what “horsie people want”, but I’m just one gal and I don’t have tons of footage myself to play with in the software since I only ride 2-3 times a week and, at best, take my SS once a week to record.

So, PLEASE HELP! If you are interested, you can apply to be a Beta tester at this site (be SURE that you say you are using SoloShot2 for horseback riding):

(you do NOT need to have a SS3 on order; this is open to all existing SS2 users)

The software is being tested specifically with SoloShot2 (you literally just do 1 software update & then attach a USB when you set up to record - everything else is identical to what you already do) and then it is an easy software install on your computer (I use a PC, but I believe they also have Mac testers). They do a screenshare meeting with you to introduce you to the software & then you can continue to experiment and give feedback at your convenience. It isn’t fully-baked (hence, “BETA” test) but there is great functionality already and all of our feedback is being actively reviewed and applied for additional changes. I believe SOLOSHOTedit is suppose to officially launch with SS3 (and I believe is automatically included in the SS3 purchase). [No- this doesn’t get our preorder SS3 shipped any faster! - but I did ask… ;)]

Anyway, I thought folks on this forum would be interested/willing to help! The more horse folks we can get involved in Beta testing, the more likely the software will work well for us once launched!

P.S. If you are very interested but don’t receive a reply within a few days after submitting the online form, please PM me with your name & email - I can pass it along to the Beta test guy I’m working with (they get a ton of requests from folks to test so not everyone is selected, but he said specifically they need horseback riders).

(if/when I have any examples I can share publicly, I’ll be sure to post them here!)

Here’s a quick clip I made out of the footage from a ride last week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tm7UqsYvIn0
(still a little glitchy- but excited to help them work out the bugs before it launches!; the software allowed me to splice this together quickly from 35min of footage!)

I did the survey email a week or so ago but haven’t heard back if they want me to join in the testing.

This was posted last week. I’m glad that you are helping them, MR! We need more equestrians like you helping Soloshot. Did they give you any specifics on an approximate ship date for SS3?

flight - PM me your name & email. I will send it along internally. (they said they get a ton of requests but at this point only have a couple sports they still will take testers for - equestrian being one) or email me directly at megan.e.gage at gmail.com

CoL - Thanks! I didn’t see you 7/14 post. No change in shipping of SS3, still ~September (not any later, tho - still same as the schedule announced back in May). I was one of the early preorders (almost a year ago) - will be sure to post when I get any news!!

Everyone get the email about shipping in November?
Arghh, I don’t really mind waiting, except my horse knocked over my soloshot2 and broke my camera controller. I have no zoom. No zoom!!!

Haha, I cannot imagine! We are so spoiled now.
