Somebeachsomewhere Diagnosed with Cancer..Unfortunate update

Leading Standardbred sire Somebeachsomewhere dx’ed with cancer:

The good news is, it sounds as if it was caught early and fingers crossed he will do fine. I am somewhat surprised to see that he is still listed with a 2018 stud fee and there’s no mention of him missing the breeding season at this point. I guess I don’t know much about horses being treated with chemotherapy; wondering the reasonability of him being able to collect for the breeding season.

In any event, really hoping he recovers without incident. He is really a phenomenal sire.

ETA: It’s just been announced he has passed away. No info yet on specific cause. He was 13yo. Terribly sad news; he was well on his way to being (if not already) a supersire.

Colon cancer? I hope he recovers.

Damn  Such a great horse, sad loss for everyone.

So sorry to hear this. :frowning:

So hard to read/hear about great performers on the track and just starting promising second careers and to be lost suddenly.

Heartwarming to hear that all his connections wanted the best for him and quickly made the decision as his quality of life began to suffer. My condolences to them.

Somebeachsomewhere, pace over that rainbow bridge and rest in peace.
