Someone please help me identify my Holsteiner?

I just recently bought a Holsteiner and I’d like to know more about him. He has a botched brand on his left hip (unreadable) and two numbers on either side of his tail. Left side of his tail is a 9 and right side is either a 1 or a 7. I have his import papers (from Argentina) but they said pretty much nothing except his markings, his barn name (simba) and his registered name (Comander). Can someone please help me find out anything about him! Pedigree, true age and birthday, when he was imported, etc? I also want to get his holsteiner papers. Does anyone know how?

Is his registered name really just Comander? most of the big breeders down there have a prefix of some kind (Baral, Classic, Henry Jota, ect) What year was he imported?

One of the numbers is his birth year, the other is just what number foal he was in line to be branded suggesting he is either an 09 or an 07 (or 01). Birthdate will probably be hard to find as most of the big breeders don’t have exact dates (horses are to pasture and not really kept track off until they come in for branding)

His import papers dont say too much to be honest. Is it possible to post a picture to this post so you can see?

The only “Comander” that I can find a mention of in Argentina is bay and born in 1988. I have no idea the breed though.

There is a Comander 7 that is a 2006 holsteiner here http://www.wbfsh.org/files/September_Jumping_horse_final.pdf but I have no idea if that helps.

What do you know about him? Color? What age do you think he might be?

If he was born in Argentina, he might be registered with the AAFE instead of the Holsteiner Verband. The AAFE website has a pedigree search feature. You must enter his registered name exactly, including prefix initials.

Good Luck!

^^That’s where I looked him up, and the only “Comando” was an 88 bay of the breed “scp” (if I remember that correctly). Now, if there are initials or anything else in his name, then you might find something.

On his import papers it is printed name: Comander so I don’t know of any prefixes. He is 17.2 chestnut with two hind socks and was sold to me as 14 years old.

I also have his usdf registration but I cannot figure out how to look him up, it says the site is down.

You can do the horse results search on the USEF site and he comes up, the only Comander on there. But he is listed there as Thoroughbred with no parentage. (These are often wrong, as input by the owner at the time…)

The oldest owner I see there is Stansky’s Mission Farms in Wellington FL, so perhaps they would know more about him. The person who started that farm is from Venezuela, so maybe did the importing?

Yes that’s him!!! I’ve seen that usef registration before but didn’t know all the requirements to register a horse. ( so I just thought it wasn’t him) I will contact stanskys mission farms. Thank you so much!!
