I just now saw this post. Sorry.
Yes, I knew about it and was actively involved. The Cavalier community made me very proud by coming together so quickly to get these dogs and make sure they did not go to the puppy millers. They are all now safe and scattered throughout several Cavalier rescues. They will now need foster homes and/or adoptive homes. We are all working on that now.
The last two dogs cost almost $30,000 (two males). They were bought by an Amish puppy miller who was a real jerk and wouldn’t let them go until we met his extortionist price.
And yes, sadly, the breeder got the money from the auction. We also fear that she will start up again, as she kept a number of her best dogs.
We all have very conflicted feelings about this. On the one hand, we just had to save those dogs from the millers. On the other hand, we worry greatly that she will do this again and/or other creeps will decide to do this periodically to make some big cash and then start up again. It’s a dangerous precedent, but what else could we do??
Anyone interested in adopting one of these rescued dogs (they are well bred dogs. This woman used to be a decent breeder, but went off the deep end several years ago) please contact one of the following and put in an application for adoption:
