Rick Porter has had rough year. Let’s keep him in our prayers. He has had a long successful run in racing and let’s hope that continues.
Prayers & well wishes to Rick.
I laughed at the fact that Songbird went to CA because she was considered to be the second best filly Rick Porter had bought that year.
Porter certainly has had some very special mares and fillies. Does he specialize in them? It would seem to be a good niche.
Lately it appears his success is found on the Distaff side, but that was not always the case.
This 2011 DRF q&a might give you a sense of Porter.
I am thrilled to see Songbird win again and glad to hear that Mr. Porter could be there. He has been truly blessed with some special horses. Can’t wait to see the champ in the Distaff!
I did not realize that he owned Jostle. I saw her colt by Lawyer Ron at OBS as a yearling and was very impressed by him. Later saw him go through the 2 YOIT sale at OBS again and still liked the looks of him. Sadly he only won a few races and then went to a second career as a H/J but he was a looker!
There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of man, or something like that.

Not sure if he “coined” the phase but he made if “famous”
