Sons of Heraldik

Does anyone have any experience of stallion sons of Heraldik?

I’ve found Herald 3
http://www.wisbecq.eu/_html/site.php?id=18&taal=en&page=chevaux&partie=etalons

and Hosco (although I’m not entirely sure where he is standing)

Has anyone seen these stallions or any other Heraldik sons? Has anyone used them? Seen any offspring? I’d be very grateful for any information about them at all.

Have you ever talked to Baudouin van den Brande at www.harasdesconcessions.be?

He might have some useful insights for you - and I think you’d enjoy his stallion line up too!

Hunter is here in the United States owned by wendy Webster. You can see his information on the AHHA webpage in the stallion directory.

Wendy Webster’s website

Here is the website for Wendy Webster and the Heraldik son, Hunter:

Hi Ronda, I haven’t got as far as talking to stallion owners yet as this would be for 2012, so long distance forward planning. I do like the idea of Herald 3 but his stud fee is rather eye watering. Having said that in the scheme of things it is a small amount of money compared with keeping and competing a horse isn’t it?

Raffey I looked at Hunter and found he was in the US and had to discount him as I’m in the UK! I’d be very interested to hear more about him though. How is he doing in competition and as a sire?

drkarins thankyou for the link

I really like the pedigree of Hosco, direct dam line back to Vase who was almost certainly granddam and great granddam of Capitol.

He is also virtually 75% TB so has lots of blood which is what I am looking for. If I did decide to find out more is it OK to phone the Holstein Verband in Germany to find out where he is standing? They list him as being at Klein Offenseth which was part of Stall Hell. Klein Offenseth don’t list him on their stallion rota and I believe the Hell stallions were sold to Paul Schockemohle???

There is frozen from Hunter in Europe. I know Wendy said she froze some and sent it back. You may want to call her. His motherline is special.

If Hunter is in the USA, is he occasionally available fresh?
I had never heard of him before this thread.

I know he hasn’t been due to his show schedule but I think he might be now. His Alcatraz / Lord mothers from stamm 3317 are top producers.

The last time I talked to the owner, she said that Hunter is only available frozen. His cooled doesn’t ship well at all.

Hunter hasn’t been available fresh in the past due to longevity of his sperm. HOWEVER, he freezes and has confirmed pregnancies with frozen.

Mighty Magic’s dam is by Heraldik.

And he is by Mythens…so you get to heavy hitters in one stallion;) And he is 7/8ths TB…

I’ve only seen one offspring by him…and he looked nice. Well conformed. Sire really stamped him with his head.

Fleidergeist is a 1997 gray son who is Trak approved. Don’t know if he is standing, though.

Damsire of a 2007 HOL named Contano, by Coriano Z (HOL). Contano was a premium stallion–Premiehengst.

Damsire of Cress (HOL).

Damsire of a 2006 Cornet Obolensky son named Black Jack who is Westfalian and Rheinlander approved.

Damsire of a De Niro line BaWu 2007 approved son named De Noir.

Damsire of the 2009 reserve champion for Bavaria who is approved by Bavaria, Westfalia and the Rheinland–FS Delamanga. Topside is Donnerhall and Rubenstein.

Damsire of Cassillio, by Cassini I who is in Poland and approved there.

That’s all the intact Heraldiks that I’ve found so far. If he can keep going, he might found his own H line in Germany. There are more with him as damsire, but these looked particularly interesting.

There’s a 2004 Butt-bred, Heraldik-sired eventer (gelding) named Andorik. I wonder if he’s in the International pipeline. FEI says he did some CIC 1*s with a Danish rider. He didn’t do so well, but he’s young yet.

viney, you are exactly right, and there are moves afoot to ensure that happens.

i’m not going to say much, but it is impossible to look too far without this horse hitting you in the face repeatedly from the data.

whoever asked the initial question is, to me, barking up the right tree. i don’t think the production of heraldik, his sons nor his daughters looks like it is about to stop showing up. if anything, his influence appears to be spreading more through the disciplines with successive generations.

What about these guys - Royaldik and Meraldik? They are not Heraldik sons, but rather are out of his full sister Herka.

Royaldik is by Royal Diamond, and Meraldik is by Munchhausen (v. Hohenstein I). I would think the addition of the dressage blood would help enhance gaits and rideability. Yes/no?

Funny this thread popped up because I am also looking at Heraldik sons for one of my Irish mares.

Did anyone ever track down current contact info for Herald 3? It was rumoured that he had been imported to North America a while back. He seems to have the most blood at 72% of Herald 3, Hunter, and Hyperion.

Viney Fleidergeist died a few years ago while still young and I haven’t been able to find out if any frozen was ever taken from him. Not that I could use frozen on my mare but it would be good to know about for future reference.

Mighty Magic is nice but I’d like Heraldik closer up and ideally direct male line if I’m going to do this.

Royaldik is a nice stallion but sadly a bit of a jump killer which isn’t entirely surprising when you look at Royal Diamond’s bloodlines. Meraldik is a stallion I haven’t seen other than in video and he looks nice but again I’m concerned that he won’t have enough jump. If only Herka had been put to Sixtus or Kostolany instead of Munchhausen. Now THAT would have been a stallion!

Herald 3 stands in France. He looks very impressive but I do find his stud fee eye wateringly high for an unproven sire.

Kempinski isn’t listed on the Trakehner Verband site. I wonder what happened to him?

There are some mouthwatering mares on the Butts website:

“Angara (Heraldik xx x Kronenkranich xx), Amelie (Heraldik xx x Schostakovich xx), M.Applebee (Markus Deak xx x Heraldik xx) and also H.Lacey (Heraldik xx x Star Regent xx) the full blood sister to Euroridings Butts Leon.”

drool!

I wonder why this guy was gelded?

yes, was apparently at wef in gp village. i forget the young rider’s name (and also whether the horse had a name change) but they were doing well. was in the barn of ashland stables, the folks who own hickstead.

herald has been a super performer (super league etc) and also has a good motherline (4294). while hunter never had the same performance opportunities, hunter’s is also a super motherline (3317) and hunter stands in a superior type. regarding the stam, hunter’s direct family (mother and grandmother) have been noted producers, not just the stam in general.
