Soprano (Sandro Hit X Contender) offspring....

Hello Everyone!
I just got a phone call from a breeder considering Soprano (Sandro Hit X Contender) for her mare, and thought the info might be of interest to some of you. Disclaimer…I do not own Soprano, or any of the offspring that I will mention, or show in photos) in this post, nor do I receive any kickbacks, comisions, etc.!<G>.

“My” Soprano Yearling was sold to a fabulous Hunter home…They ADORE him, and says he is the best minded young horse that they have had…He was out of my most sensitive mare, FYI. Speaking of minds, I have personal experience with 4 Soprano offspring, out of 4 (very different) mares. They all have identical, incredible temperaments (2 have lived with me, and the other 2 belong to very good friends).

Just thought this info might interest some of you…Anybody else have offspring with photos/reports to share?

If all goes well I will have one in about 48 hours;)

We had a filly April 18th out of a Zeoliet/Goodtimes mare by Soprano. Really lovely, powerful, athletic filly which has been sold already.
The filly has a superb canter, only now just seeing a little trot which is also very nice, but the canter is outstanding. We just bred back the mare to Soprano on Friday.

Gorgeous filly Lesley! My Soprano colt also has a very good canter, and preferred to canter, rather then trot. I meant to add in my original post, that in my opinion, Soprano can be counted on to produce long legs, and excellent type, in addition to fantastic temperaments.

Looking forward to seeing other Soprano’s as they arrive!

Thank you for post![](ng this! Very timely! Such LOVELY babies…

I have a beautiful, intelligent and rather sensitive GOV MMB Arab mare. I have been toying with the idea of breeding her again – and have been thinking that I should go up and have a look at Soprano. Seeing these babies, and hearing the reports are quite encouraging!

Now, her Rosenthal gelding is lovely, 16.1 (mare is 15h) truly gorgeous, and fun to ride. So, obviously, Rosenthal is a strong contender…but I have just always loved the look of Soprano and his foals and need to give myself the best shot at having a less sensitive horse with some size and a good chance of overcoming the Arab canter (although the mare’s canter is pretty good.)

First three photos are mare…last photo is the Rosenthal gelding (if it loads the way I saw it!)

Dear Cold Spring,
Go take a look at Soprano…The 4 foals that I have personal experience with ALL came from sensitive mares, and all of the foals are SO quiet, and people oriented. Your mare and Rosenthal son are beautiful… Your “wish list” seems like a very safe bet with Soprano…Size and long legs, a great canter, and quiet disposition…

Looking forward to seeing what you decide!
Warmly,
Karin

I am breeding my Dutch mare to Soprano this year! Reading all the positive things about him is really exciting. Fingers crossed for a black filly next year

Soprano is on my short list for sure! Is he retired from riding/showing?

Got a Soprano baby on Monday morning!
This one will be grey but he looks very much stamped by his sire. He has some serious unfolding to do so no pics yet  he is all angles and legs.
He’s barely 24 hours old so can’t comment on the temperament yet.

Formosus, congratulations! Can’t wait to see the pics. What are the dam’s bloodlines?

Thanks!
Mare is Ferro x Saluut II.

Definitely can’t wait to see your pictures since I have a Ferro-Saluut II mare also. Did you see the pics of her Ijsselmeer fill this year? We need to keep in touch to see what crosses best on our very similiar mares. I bred Saretta to Laroche this year for more of a jumper.

Yes! I love your mare!
Yes I saw her lovely filly-wow chrome.

My girl got the almost typical short front legs that Ferro seems to pass onto his girls. (yours doesn’t from what I can see) and I went to Soprano for the longer front legs and everything else he is known to trow (temperament, good gaits, more suspension, better sit ect…). I’m pretty sure I got that but he’s got to unfold first: he’s all legs!!

Love your choice of Laroche, I too went jumper for my girl this year but with Torino.

I like Laroche, but not for my Ferro (front legs being on the short side). With Torino I’m looking for the powefull butt and good hind end technique he seems to pass on.

Hmm Torino, I like him…

We had a very long legged, refined black bay filly with no white born on Mother’s Day out of our Rio Grande - xx mare. Classy looking filly that moves well. She has big ears, which was a bit of a suprise.

We have a Soprano due in 3 weeks. I’m getting really excited. I’m also breeding him in a couple of weeks to our Rubinstein mare and hoping for the same thing - longer front legs. Love everything else in that combo.

Inspection video of my Sprano colt Spyder is here…

Got to meet Alain, Soprano’s owner at this inspection. He was really taken with my colt and even showed him in the final ring!

LOVE him. Quite possibly the best mind I have ever bred. We bred a quiet, older-style mare to him and got some pizazz and a great mind. He is tops in my book and it doesn’t hurt that his owner is fabulous.

Really nice colt, Holly. Both Soprano AND Alain are tops in my book as well. A really nice SO to deal with for sure.

Alain is a really, really nice guy. I met him at DAD last fall and he spent a lot of time talking to me, asking me about my mares, etc. He is really passionate about his horses.

As our Soprano filly is now two weeks old and we are really happy with her.
