"Sore no More" newbie

I found a bottle of Sore-no-More gel deep within my tack box. I vaguely remember having won it in some contest or other… So, do I just glob this stuff on (I’m thinking I probably thought it might help reduce hock inflammation) and walk away? Will half the paddock sand and a few insects be stuck to it in the morning? Or, do I put it on and then wash it off after x amount of time?

Thank you for your patience with a liniment newbie.

When I use gel-based liniments in the past I’ll either mix it with a bucket of water for a nice rinse (purportedly it helps with blood flow, I don’t know if I could ever cite a scientific study proving it though) or apply directly on desired areas (typically soft tissue in lower legs - tendons) and rub in. No gobs/surface goop left, I spread it out and work it in. The gel liniments I’m most familiar with (absorbine’s is my big one, but there have been a few others in the past) tend to dry down fairly quickly so it’s not a huge “stick” risk/debris attractant, unless a horse goes down/scrubs the area in something before it’s dry.

Although I’ll definitely advise spot testing on your horse before putting on & leaving it/using it all over in any fashion. A few horses may react quite strongly to certain liniments (menthol and the essential oils are the big culprits iirc). I’ve used liniments under wraps before (typically post-show, overnight) but that’s only after I know a liniment isn’t going to incite a reaction.

I use the Bigeloil gel sometimes and just wipe it on. It’s not globby/sticky when wiped on. My mare gets kind of bouncy when it starts to tingle, so I know it’s not spread to thinly.

I’ve been using sore no more lininment. My gelding likes it after a hard workout. I just leave it on after I apply it. No need to rinse it off dries pretty fast. I put it on straight no diluting.

Seems to help with sore/stiff muscles.

Sore No More is great, and it absolutely helps with sore muscles! My bottle has migrated into the house…it’s great for a sore back after a day of farm work.

definitely do a small spot test first time, but just slap it on and walk away…nothing should really stick to it.

I use Absorbine gel on myself and just walk away

I love liniment gel for horses too. Best practice seems to be to massage it in (horses, lol). I’ve never had a problem with anything sticking.
