Sort of Duplicate Post, One Not by Me

Some time ago (June) I started a thread in Racing:

https://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/forum/discussion-forums/racing/10155981-hardware-on-the-head

Looking at the WEG thread yesterday, I noted that my post appeared, word for word, but not quoted, by a new poster (not me under an alter):

https://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/forum/discussion-forums/-2016-olympics-equestrian-events/10216277-hardware-on-the-head

Topic really has no place in the WEG discussion, but there it is.
Strange?

That is strange.

May want to flag that first post for the Moderator also, to check into.
Maybe a spammer with a new trick to get attention?

I don’t know how to contact the Moderator. Never had to do that. Can you explain how, please?

Below each post on the right there is a flag tab you can use to flag that post, so the Moderator will check it out.

Every time a name is highlighted in color, you can click on it and a window will show up with ways to contact that person.
Most forums have some sticky by the Moderator and there you can click on “Moderator 1” and contact thru that window that opens.

I would, as so the Moderator will be able to see this possible problem sooner than finding it on this forum.

Will be interesting to see what is going on, good catch you noticed that, wonder if it has been happening all along, but no one else noticed?

You can tag the Mod in the post like this: @Moderator 1 or send a PM

THAT ^, much simpler, just click on that there.

Thanks for offering that link, good thinking.

No problem! We posted at the same time and honestly I didn’t even think of the flag button.

OP that is creepy

It has happened here before at least once that I remember.
What you have here is likely a spammer or bot trying to gain trust by looking like a real person. So it copies an older post that probably few people will remember (except in this case the person who had actually posted it) in order to look like it has some knowledge about the forum topic. I’d guess after a few posts like that you’d eventually start getting the posts that sneak in a spammy/scammy link.

Yep, a possibility and if so, the Moderator can check that out and ban that IP, now that we know that one is a spammer.

Yup, this is my guess, too. Some spammer trying to build a posting history before spamming. Maybe because some boards limit attachments or links or some other spammy behavior in posts for new posters.

Netherlands IP… spam tactics… account banned!
