South-Eastern US, Weanling and Yearling Development

I am aware of wonderful programs in Kentucky and a few in Maryland, that focus on raising young sport horses. Mostly leaving them out in a large field in small groups, but handled daily and consistently taught basic manners until they’re mature enough to prepare to be backed. Sometimes brought to shows for exposure, walked to the round pen, sent through a jump shoot twice a year…

Could you recommend similar programs in the Florida, Georgia, South Carolina area?

Sent you a PM!

Thank you! This is very helpful.

Can you also send me a PM with info?

A good friend has bought a (soon to be) weanling and is looking for a good and ethical place in the SE to send it for raising and early y/h training.

I do that with all of my homebreds in central FL. Other places you could look into farms that do TB yearling prep.

Hi, your profile is hidden so I can’t PM you. Feel free to send me a message though!

Thank you. She’s at a TB farm at the moment but they need to kick her out since she’s not going to be a racehorse :frowning:

I’m having a tricky time arranging transport to the farm weixiao recommended. If I can’t figure that out, I’ll be in touch to see if you have room!

Not sure where you are coming from but have you tried Jeff Burton Equine Transport? He is great, especially with the babies, and often ships to that farm!

I’m in touch with them! They might be able to do it. There’s a specific trailer they’d have to use to access the farm and they need to see where that fits into their schedule or something, and I don’t want the baby to have to travel alone the first time she’s trailered.

I have a question for you though, I tried messaging the other day. I’ll try again now.
