Cross posting this as I need to make a switch and so would love to get feedback (good and bad) by private message. I am fairly new to the area and have always gone by word of mouth but I feel my current farrier might be ripping me off at $280 every four weeks (yes that is corrective but anyway, I will hopefully find out!). I am not far from Welly world so someone willing to travel would be great.
What kind of corrective shoes? $280 sounds reasonable to me for minor corrective work in Northern Virginia.
Depending on how far from wellington you are: James Gilchrist, Thomas Rautenbach. Not sure how far they’ll travel with season getting going. James gets really busy. He has some good young guys who work with him and on their own but if your horse needs intensive corrective shoeing it may be out of their comfort zone.
