Southern California Inspection Sites?

I hope this thread is allowed…

While perusing the various registry websites we noticed quite a few do not have sites in CA anywhere between the San Fran/Sacramento area and all the way down south to San Diego (roughly 400-500 miles apart!). RPSI has one in Agua Dulce, and BWP has one right here in Moorpark, but otherwise one in this area would have to travel mighty far to reach an inspection.

We’ve contacted a few of the registries, and plenty are willing to add another site if there is enough interest. Considering that we are a training/show facility and not a breeding farm, we don’t have many of our own mares or foals to include, so this is my attempt to see if any COTHers could use a Los Angeles area inspection.

This is not an advertisement, but rather a reach to see if enough breeders and mare owners would benefit from an inspection being held at our facility.

We’re in Somis, CA, about 30 minutes north of Los Angeles and 40 south of Santa Barbara. Website is www.spiritequestrian.com.

Please let me know if you indeed could use an inspection and if so, which registry and how many you’d be bringing

I would’ve been interested for an RPSI inspection but then I just saw on the website that there’s one scheduled for July in Menifee, so that’s super close to me. I know of a few people that are in the OC/LA areas that would probably love an inspection closer that way so I will send them your contact info!!!

Thank you! My email is Shannon@SpiritEquestrian.com

OHBS/GOV California sites should be posted soon. I am not sure if they need an additional site in CA but can find out.

How many stalls would you have available for mares/foals that are traveling in? And are the stalls foal safe - i.e., full doors all the way to the ground, no gaps between boards or underneath boards where they can get a leg hung up.

We’re very close to Hilda Gurney’s, so if she is holding one again this year then it would be a moot point

We have approx 30 12x12 stalls that would meet the requirements that are available. We have an entire barn dedicated to show/clinic trailer-ins so as to not require flimsy temporary stalls. We do have a few other slightly larger stalls with solid walls/doors but the majority are 12x12. They all have the premium mattress system.

What if…

One large farm offered to have multiple inspections over a course of a few days ?
Thursday is Hanoverian day, Friday is OLD/NA day, Saturday is RPSI day, Sunday is GOV day, etc.

All the handlers would be there for everyone to use, instead of being spread out at different farms/inspections. Braiders too. Plenty of help available.

It wouldn’t replace inspections at other places, but it may solve the problem of trying to find smaller farms to host an inspection while hoping they can attract enough horses.

If one farm had multiple inspections on site, it wouldn’t matter if there were only 2 Hanoverians who could make it. They would be accommodated, and then the next day it’s on to Oldenburgs.

Also, for those who choose to stay over, it would be a wonderful opportunity to meet other breeders and see the offspring from a variety of stallions.
