Southern Hound Show

We had a glorious day yesterday at Live Oak hosting the Southern Hound Show. We had a good turnout, beautiful weather, and lots of lovely hounds! Our judge from England and Jim Meads couldn’t get here because of the Volcano in Europe, but Liz McKnight of Elkridge Harford did a wonderful job judging with Linda Knox of Aiken Hounds assisting.
I don’t have the full list of winners in front of me, but I will say everyone did well.
LOH had lots of wins, but with such a huge, beautiful pack, it was no surprise. Fox River Valley did exceptionally well again…also with such beautiful, huge, hounds. The Grand Champion was from Midland (I believe it was the bitch who won in VA last year) and we were so glad (and honored) to have Ben Hardaway present to see it, but also judge our “hat contest”…(Pat Schuh of LOH won it)
Shakrag brought some beautiful PMD’s that did quite well, Misty Morning brought their beautiful American Hounds, Bear Creek, Tryon, and Four Winds all had lovely hounds (and people!) there too… I know I’ll get in trouble for naming names and forgetting someone…but just want to say, as a spectator, we loved having everyone down… It as a fantastic day of hounds, horsemen and dreams of hunting again next fall!!..Tally ho!!

P.S. As the show was going on, we got word that a big red fox went running across the front pasture of the farm, within eyesight of the rings…
probably “thumbing his nose” at all the hounds in the ring, haha!!
