I’m interested in one of these that is offered for sale. It’s a 2004 model, 2 horse with a short tack area in front, bunk on the gooseneck. 16 foot deck. No weekender package. It’s tall, 7’9" high, apparently, which I like. This is a brand I’ve heard of, but have no experience with, know nothing much about. Who has had or known a Southland trailer? Feedback? Advice? Opinions? Value?
I know nothing about this brand of trailer but do make sure if you have a newer tow vehicle that this older model gooseneck will work with the height of the vehicle.
My 97 Dodge 1 ton flatdeck fits under it, apparently. It is being sold because a new truck the current owner has bought is too high for it. Mine should fit well.
I bought it! Yesterday!!! I’m thrilled, it’s lovely. Downsizing from my 6 horse featherlite. Anybody looking for an OLD featherlite trailer? It’s been converted to a “3 box stall” trailer, with big swinging slam doors between the stalls. Can still carry 6 regular sized horses, two to a stall “cowboy style”. Or can be used to carry mares and foals, or just 3 horses in luxurious roomy style. Can also carry 3 tons of hay bales, or lumber, or many other things if you open up the stalls to make it a “liner”. It only weighs 5000 empty, so easy to pull, so much lighter than most other big trailers. Frame is straight and strong, new 7000 lb axles, new top quality tires, new brakes, very good running condition. But it’s OLD, a 1984, so it’s got some cosmetic issues, dents on the running boards. 4 foot deckspace tackroom and bunk area over the gooseneck. Can also be used as show or event stabling. All water tight, no leaks. Everything works. Best offer. This old trailer owes me NOTHING, it’s been great for me. Just time to downsize.
