I truly don’t know if I have ever had a horse with a soy issue because I just don’t feed them. They are all on grass hay with a little bit of alfalfa added. Some beet pulp so I can add their Cal trace supplement and the old girl gets her joint supplements.
She’s looking a bit ribby now so I wanted to add some rice bran to her diet. Got the bag home and see that it has soybean oil.
Is this an ok ingredient as far as soy goes?? I have read here that soybean meal is the culprit to issues and to stay away from that. The rice bran is Integrity stabalized rice bran. It has the calcium in it to ration out the balance.
I feed integri-t to my horses (easy keeper QHs to hard keep TBs) The difference is in the top dressings and the amount of integri-t. One of the top dressing for the two hard keeping TBs is the rice bran. At the moment one of them is on a maintenance program and receives half a cup two times a day but the other one is getting a heaping cup twice daily. I have had no problems at all. There is soy in both products, I believe hulls in one and oil in the other.
