Spanish Horses Delgado

I’m in the market for a PRE or Lusitano, and considering buying overseas. Do any of you know of a seller named Spanish Horses Delgado? They post a lot of nice looking horses for sale online and prices seem quite reasonable. But I can’t find much info about them and don’t know anyone with personal experience dealing with them. Any information - positive or negative - would be appreciated.

I do know of good experiences with Andalusitano, Lusitano World and Charlotte Goode. Someone recommended Spanish Horses Canada to me but even with the good exchange rate from CAN to US $$ her prices seem ridiculous

I have a friend, my former trainer, Patricia Norcia, who buys her horses from Jorge Gabriel, Casa Lusitana. He’s on Facebook. Unbelievable horses, fabulous trainer. You might want to check him out. He can find the horse for you in your price range.

Thank you!

My new mare’s trainer, Juliane Dykiel, worked for Casa Lusitana for many years, and got her USDF medals (at least Bronze and Silver, not sure about the Gold) while she was there. She left to set up her own training and sales business about 2 years ago. She does get some very nice Lusitanos as sales horses, and has a drool-worthy 5 YO buckskin gelding for sale right now. Best way to contact her is through Facebook.

My old mare had another trainer who had worked for Casa Lusitana, and had good things to say about them.

Both are near Boston, Casa Lusitana in Tyngsborough, and Juliane in Harvard (the suburb, not the university!)

It turns out I have already chatted with her (virtually) about that lovely buckskin. Unfortunately he’s above my price range. I need to stay under 50k, which sounds like a lot of money to spend on a horse to me, yet apparently isn’t enough to find sound, super safe, and 16h+

That makes sense. I don’t know the prices of her sales horses. Ah well, my Lola will be sad when he leaves. They’re neighbors and they seem to have fallen in love!

I do gasp at horse prices sometimes, and the Lusitanos demand a premium. Mine were both lowest of low 5 figures, but they are Morgans and not high-end types.

I would love a Morgan but all the ones I’ve seen advertised are on the smaller side

My last Lusitano was imported by Casa Lusitana, so another vote for them. I also know 2 people who got their PREs from Hampton Green Farm and were very happy!

Morgans do come in a range of sizes but you’re right; they are not often over 15.2. Some of the sport lines are a little larger. But most of them do take up a lot of leg, and ride like a bigger horse.

Of course, at 5’1" I’m not worried about height that much. Old mare is 15 hands, and the new one is 14 hands “if she stretches.” I haven’t sticked her, but my guess is she’s more like 13.2

I bought my last PSL directly from Yeguada La Perla a stud based north of Madrid, there was an American couple visiting when I was there viewing so I’m fairly confident they sell to the US. Leonie the owner is Austrian and is lovely to deal with.

Very much dressage bred (Alcaide - a stallion co-owned by the stud represented Spain at Tokyo and competed Internationally for a number of years) They breed for temperament as much as all the other great Lusitano attributes.

My mare from them is an absolute joy.
