I have always been fascinated by the saddles used by SRS, Spanish and Portuguese.
Has anyone had experience with these types they would like to share?
My boy is round like your trainer wants your circles. He is a keg on legs.

I would be too! I love the traditional working equitation ensembles; tack and clothing. I started trying to find info online but maybe wasn’t searching the right terms.
What do you want to know? They aren’t competition dressage legal, which is a shame!
I have a Portuguese Relvas saddle - the deep seat but open flap type as opposed to the deep closed seat of the Mixta or Portuguesa - my thighs felt so wedged into those I couldn’t get off without very inelegantly clambering and clawing my way off….not the look I was going for
I bought mine secondhand and my saddler was pretty horrified when he was widening and doing some repairs on it and found out it was stuffed with rags and old clothes
To ride in it’s nice, mine has no blocks so it’s very open to ride in but the suede is grippy as you like.
It’s a thing of beauty, I’ve owned mine for over 20 years!
I think most of my competition days are behind me, so show acceptability is unimportant. There are few shows in my area anymore, so I just want to have fun.
Then fun you shall have!
