Spartanburg/Greenville, SC - Lessons and Barns

Lurker and reader, but just joined to ask some questions here… Just moved to the GSP area (well more the ‘SP’) for work and have started to look for riding opportunities. I’ve been riding for 17ish years at this point (off/on for the last six), but spent the majority in the AQHA world. Rode at some h/j barns in graduate school, but wouldn’t say that’s where I’m experienced.

I know there’s a lot of barns/trainers in the Tryon/Landrum area, but I’m looking more specifically for somewhere to take lessons, maybe a half-lease once I get my sea legs back. Ownership is not financially realistic right now, nor are the big time show barns (which is what I seem to be finding in that area). Would love someone who understands I may just be a lessoner for a while, but offer opportunities to be involved in a barn (I miss it!) I did search here, but threads seem to be a few years old and I know the growth in this area has been crazy.

I’m open to h/j barns, eventing, just hacking something once/a few times a week, just about anything. I know essentially nobody around here and really miss my horse and riding.

If you’d like to PM me your name and address, I’ll be happy to send you a copy of the Foothills Equestrian Directory. 100+ pages of info about all things horsey in our area.

How far are you from travelers rest?

About 45 minutes, maybe a little closer from work

I found the copy online, is it the same? Definitely looks helpful, although I’d love personal recommendations/suggestions too!

About 45 minutes, maybe closer from the office! Depending on time of day too.
