I love the jacket and I think it will look lovely. Good luck at the show. FWIW I don’t think white pads always look good on pintos or white horses. I can’t really picture your horse in black either. It is adding another color tone and might look busy.

I might wear it if my horse is lame…sorta like a really short skirt for an FEI jog if you’re worried about getting spun.[/QUOTE]
:lol::lol: I take it that’s a “no” vote!

Thanks! It should be interesting–both horses hate the Windurra dressage ring. So I probably shouldn’t be drawing attention to myself lol!
I am new to eventing and others ride my horses. I do enjoy the bling factor.
But being old and growing up a lesson kid at hunter barns. I still have a lovely grey plaid hunt coat I remember buying as a teen. And my Mother’s ancient tweed hunt coat.
What I love about them and not so much about current coats is they were (are) long and much more flattering to a variety of figures…and I wasn’t heavy at all…but also not tall. Those coats lengthen me. And the cotton one is still light weight and tailored beautifully though I am sure it was not top of the line.
Wish I could get away with wearing it now.
it was interesting that all the rolex dressage riders might have had piping and a bit of sparkle there were no colors other than black or navy…and I think Allison springer had a really dark navy? anyways, no grey, french blue, etc. that I saw, day 2 though. I didn’t see day 1.
All pads were white.
If you show in burgundy let us know how it’s received- specifically the pad.

Well, again this was an unrecognized CT. I got several compliments on my turnout and someone asked me where I got the jacket. I got an “attractive pair” comment from the judge, so I guess she didn’t hate it. My score in BN was a 36, with a canter poop causing a “lack of engagement” comment! My Novice score was a 33 and we went clear in jumping to finish fifth in a large, salty division.
I will see if my trainer got any pictures, otherwise I will try to get a still from the video.
Subk said it how I usually say it.
Its yucky and distracting–and even more so on the pinto colored horse… Dressage is classic and should stay classic. I swayed from the white pad at one point… but I was a kid and didn’t know better.
Dressage should be workmanlike and elegant.

Or as the judge said “attractive pair…”.
Ok, I’m mistaken then, I thought this was recognized. Sorry.
Its a pretty color, for sure.
It will be interesting to see the colors this season to be sure!
I’ve seen that coat in person and while I would love an actual burgundy/wine jacket, this veers much more towards that berry color, especially in sunlight. If you’re only doing unrecognized I think that’s fine but I’d steer clear of it for sanctioned events.

Yes, for a recognized I would probably wear my navy coat and navy pad. Oh, the horrors :eek:. (Actually, we can’t do a white pad, because it makes him look dingy).
